Upgrade Admin (and Tomcat)

Follow these steps:

  1. Shut down admin
  2. Make a backup of directory LOGALYZE_HOME/admin/
  3. Remove directory LOGALYZE_HOME/admin/
  4. Recreate directory LOGALYZE_HOME/admin/
  5. Copy content of the logalyze/admin/ folder of 4.1.6 zip/tar.gz to LOGALYZE_HOME/admin/
  6. Apply your own settings from backup (list of importat files/dirs (incomplete): conf/server.xml, webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/web.xml, webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/classes/logging.properties, logs/ )
  7. Start the admin

When you upgrade a win-beta installation, you will need to do:

  1. Before upgrading, stop admin service
  2. Follow steps described above, but do not start admin at the end
  3. Copy/restore a file from your (4.1.5) backup: LOGALYZE_HOME/admin/bin/win_startup.bat
  4. Edit LOGALYZE_HOME/admin/bin/startup.bat and replace 'start' command to 'run' (in line 56)
  5. Start admin service

Upgrade indexes (optional, but recommended)

With this upgrade you can free up a lot of space, according to the size of the indexes (saving ~60-65%).
You can find index directories under these directories:

  1. LOGALYZE_HOME/var/index/default/
  2. LOGALYZE_HOME/var/index/_audit/
  3. LOGALYZE_HOME/var/index/_internal/

Before upgrade shut down engine, and make backup of index directories.
Run upgrade process in command line (you can find lucene-core-4.10.4.jar file in LOGALYZE_HOME/lib/ ) on each index directory:

    java -cp lucene-core-4.10.4.jar org.apache.lucene.index.IndexUpgrader indexDir

For example:

    java -cp lucene-core-4.10.4.jar org.apache.lucene.index.IndexUpgrader LOGALYZE_HOME/var/index/default/20171020/

Replace the corresponding value in place of LOGALYZE_HOME .

On linux systems you can run something like that (if your LOGalyze home is /opt/logalyze/ ):

    find /opt/logalyze/var/index/ -mindepth 2 -maxdepth 2 -type d -exec java -cp lucene-core-4.10.4.jar org.apache.lucene.index.IndexUpgrader '{}' \;

Upgrade embedded Derby database (optional)

  1. Before upgrade shut down engine, and make backup of LOGALYZE_HOME/var/db/ directory
  2. Download utility derbyutils.jar
  3. Run upgrade process in command line from directory where derbyutils.jar was downloaded:
    on linux:
        java -cp LOGALYZE_HOME/lib/derby-10.12.1.1.jar:derbyutils.jar derbyutils.Main --full-upgrade LOGALYZE_HOME/var/db

    on windows:

        java -cp LOGALYZE_HOME\lib\derby-10.12.1.1.jar;derbyutils.jar derbyutils.Main --full-upgrade LOGALYZE_HOME\var\db

Replace the corresponding value in place of LOGALYZE_HOME .
